How to activate dialog GPRS MMS settings for android devices (prepaid and postpaid)
For non-android phone users can easily obtain dialog GPRS
settings into your device easily by following steps mentioned in dialog website
(http://www.dialog.lk/personal/mobile/technology/gprs/).
But if your device is android, though you exactly follow the steps, you might
only receive a message from 700 saying “You will receive the Data setting of your mobile shortly.
Please enter 1111 as the PIN if required.” But you will never receive their configuration message to
enter such PIN.
Perhaps you will receive configuration setting without
hindrance. Sometimes without your intention, after you switch on mobile data,
everything works and you can browse. Then you are lucky. But as dialog service
provider says, it’s rare that you can access internet without manually configuring
your device. Probability of being lucky is again random and rare. This note is
not for such lucky people.
Now go back to our issue. If you are not lucky enough to get
them by default, follow the steps mentioned below.
These are the
steps for dialog android users to activate GPRS and MMS
Select Settings -> Wireless & networks (or Wireless
contorls) -> Mobile networks -> Access point names
Now press Menu -> New APN
Name: Dialog Internet
APN: ppwap (Only prepaid
customers)
OR
APN: www.dialogsl.com (Only postpaid customers)
Proxy: Not set
Port: 8080
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMS proxy:
192.168.122.002
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 413
MNC: 02
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: Not set
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Highlighted points are the one you must set by force. Most
of the case others are set by default. If not, set them as showed.
That’s all. Now go to Google play or browse internet and
check.
If this doesn't work either,
Another way:
If none of above works, follow the steps in this URL http://nxwiki.blogspot.com/2012/10/dialog-apn-settings-for-android-iphone.html#.ULg8RqxfF8E
Above link shows Internet and MMS settings separately.
If still it doesn't work, contact dialog. Remember this is
only for android devices + dialog service users. If you call
customer care, they might say you will receive GPRS settings shortly, then enter
PIN if required and follow the process as in message showed. You must specifically
mention that you tried it but configuration settings were not received, only
the message from 777 and ask them ‘do I manually need to set APN settings?’.
Dialog has mentioned about an android application which
automatically set all above mentioned settings after you installed it in your
device, but I can’t remember its name (sound like powerbooster or something,
not sure, please check) and I think the link to that app is not in dialog
website (try to check it in appstore). If you can find it, it is the easiest
way to configure your device for GPRS.
